Bendigo
Bendigo is a city in Central Victoria, Australia. It is about (150 km) northwest of Melbourne by road.
The Bendigo Area
Bendigo sits on the traditional lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung people and is known as the ‘city in the forest’ as our town is surrounded by National and State Parks.
"Within 3kms of home I’m on gravel and riding with no cars, plenty of bush and only kangaroos and the odd snake to worry about. My favourite ride is to head off through the Wellsford Forest where I can end up in the farmland on the banks of the Campaspe River, cross back past some historic buildings and stop off for a coffee or cider at the Axedale Tavern. Summer temperatures are generally in the high 30s early 40s Cels in our area and that demands early starts but Spring and Autumn in the bush are sensational. There is something good for the soul about being able to ride in sunshine and silence past huge old eucalyptus trees towering over the smallest wildflowers and knowing that you are just passing through".
