Our Riders
Each week we nominate our rider of the week. These are riders from around the world who have shared inspirational stories about why and where they ride.
Hein Kruger, South Africa
Hein has shared his complete life transformation from weighing 163kg in 2018 down to 73kg. Noting that the major change occurred at 58. Hein adds cycling played a significant part in his weight loss journey, though he did have an operation at one point.
Massive thanks to Hein for sharing his weight loss transformation with us.
Hein's story is truly inspiring and shows that it is never too late to change your life around.
Karin Blignaut, South Africa
Karin has consistently been posting fantastic photos of the rides that she has been doing around South Africa. Thank you for your supportive comments and advice to the members of the Gallanach Master Cycling group on Facebook.
Frances Manning, Ireland
I had the pleasure of nominating our Rider of the Week. This week it's Frances Manning from Ireland for sharing her great lockdown adventures on the bike.
Gordon Macdonald, Scotland
Gordon from the Orkney Isles, off the north coast of Scotland, has been putting some impressive weekly distances recently, mainly on his indoor trainer, as winter sets in.
"Thank you for the nomination, I really was not expecting to see that!"
John Maton, Switzerland
John rides his bike in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Here is what he told us about his life on a bike.
Hi, I'm John I'm 67, British / Swiss and have lived in Switzerland since 81. Started cycling when I was 28 and became an all year round cyclist about 10 years ago. The last couple of years I've made 2 tours with AllTrails in New Zealand and 2 tours with Ride & Seek in Italy, Spain and France. My aim is 100 kms every week of the year. It will be a challenge this year with quarantine regulations and doubt I will make it through the Winter. Have just ordered an exercise bike. Hope to cycle tomorrow and Friday basis current weather forecast. I live in the Swiss Alps at 1000 metres.
Rich Eardley, Wales
Here's what Rich posted on our page and why he was chosen.
"I've lost 12 and a half stones in the last 16 months and cycling has been a big part of it.
I cycled a lot as a younger man but lost my way a bit and ended up partying too much and in a mess. I'm lucky enough to live in Snowdonia and have cycled around 2500 miles in the last 5 months on the road bike and also started back on the mountain bike - I think it has saved my soul."
