Rosendal
Rosendal is a unique small artist's town in the Eastern Free State, South Africa. It is well known for lovely weekend social rides as well as stage races.
Nelia Smit shares her cycling experience in Rosendal with us.
"We had the privilege to spend the past weekend there and enjoyed the beautiful scenery, wonderful hospitality and good food, coffee and wine at places like Yolla's, Benjamin's and OppiDam Coffee Shop."
Rosendal
Rosendal is the Free State’s best-kept secret, a tiny town at the edge of the WitteBergen mountain range (100 inhabitants). We almost took over the town with our party of 20!
All-Inclusive Cycling Weekend
We went on a cycling weekend organised by WildTrail (https://www.wildtrail.co.za/): Beautiful experience, lovely dinners and lovely sunset photo evening.
Saturday Morning Start
We arrived on Friday and we started our ride on Saturday morning.
60km Cycle Ride
We chose a shorter ride (around 60km) because we wanted to take pictures and have fun.
Not for Beginners
This is not a ride for beginners. It was hot and there were big climbs (quite a few mountains to cross). However, it was a beautiful experience.
Place of Art and Good Food
Rosendal is a place of art and good food. We enjoyed the wonderful hospitality at Benjamin's.
Wildlife
We saw cattle, sheep and all sorts of birds.
Photographer's Paradise
It is a place where artists find their inspiration.
We thoroughly enjoyed our sunset photo evening.
A Must-See
If you haven't been before, it is definitely a place to add to your bucket list.
